[ As the video screen blips on, you are treated to a dirt road and a row of trees that both stretch into the distance. The scene is tinged in an orange hue, as it is late in the afternoon already. ]
There we go, I think I got it working.
[ The camera swivels around to a girl with brown hair wearing two ribbons, smiling wide. ]
Haruka Amami here, and umm, this is day one on our journey through Johto! [ she raises a fist into the air with a "Yeah!", though she's the only one cheering... ] It's been a long day, hasn't it? I woke up in someone's bed and some nice lady thought I was her daughter, but kicked me out of her house! And then a distinguished man came and told me about pokemon, and then we've been walking ever since. Oh!
[ The camera turns to another long brown-haired girl, traveling beside Haruka. ]
You're live, Iori-chan! Say hello!
[ The other girl, in turn, looks much worse for wear. There's nothing that can accurately describe her expression other than Grumpy as she slogs along beside Haruka, dragging her feet as if every step were a pain. A cute bunny plush hangs from her arm as she holds it close like a security blanket, its ears and feet bouncing along with them. ]
Haruka, quit messing around already! Kgh... My feet are tired! I can't believe we have to walk this entire path. Can't they even afford a driver to take us from place to place?
[ OH WAIT OH SHIT CAMERA'S ON. Iori pulls out of her angry slump in a panic, hurriedly fussing with her hair and clothes to make herself look more presentable to the public eye. And then idol magic happens. ]
Ah, um, hello everybody ♥! It's none other than the world's most beautiful Super Idol, Minase Iori-chan, leader of Super Idol unit Ryuuguu Komachi! It's okay to get excited. After all, you're looking at the face of perfection here!
Let's all work hard and win all the badges so we can go home, okay~? Cute and Perfect Iori-chan and her team will do their very best too! Nihihi~♪
[ ... And how incredible idol magic really is! Which prompts Haruka’s next comment: ] Nnnn, Iori-chan, your group is super talented!
Do you think there is time for everyone to go karaoke together? That would be just so much fun! [ Let's not ignore the elephant in the room, Haruka. ] ... Singing is fun, but I think getting all of the badges would be the best!
[ Haruka turns the camera back on herself. ]
Everyone!! Let's give it our all to be top trainers! If we give it our 100% there's nothing we can't achieve--gyah!!
[ Suddenly, Haruka trips, bobbling and dropping the feed, still on, now recording Haruka awkwardly stumbling and losing her balance, headed toward a sturdy tree, and then--*THACK!!!!*
... Haruka effectively headbutts the tree (with her face), and a Spinarak is dislodged from an upper branch, falling onto Haruka's back and sticking to her jacket. Doesn't seem like she knows, though... ]
[At first, Iori just sighs in exasperation. It seems like Haruka's clumsiness wasn't exactly unexpected. But-
Iori steps back. And then steps back again. And again.]
H-Haruka.... You're... That's- Ahhhh!!
[And then this little idol ran far far away...]
Ouch ouch ouch ouch... [ Haruka peels her face off the tree. Iori's wailing prompts Haruka to hurry! ]
Eh?... Iori...chan?
[ Haruka turns toward her fellow idol and away from the camera, giving you a glimpse of the Spinarak stirring from its slumber.
The feed cuts out. ]

That was more than just a little fall, Haruka. Are you sure you're not hurt at all?
[ granted, haruka was used to falling. she had more experience with it than anyone else makoto knew. ]
Uh, two days ago! I stayed in New Bark for a little while though, so I didn't get too far. That turned out to be a good thing, huh?

[ She just. Softly hits her head with her knuckle, while offering an empathic look. ]
Oh, two days ago? That's when Iori-chan and I got here too... Mmm! It is a good thing! I'm glad, I really am!
[ That dangerous vibe, Makoto? Well, the spinarak finally stirs and decides to make its appearance known to the shining idol Kikuchi Makoto. Hey, it's a female spinarak, and gosh, hearing Makoto's cool voice its time for its own grand debut, crawling on top of Haruka's backpack and peering around her head. ]

Really? We must have missed you...
[ although that's not too surprising. things have been pretty chaotic since they... got... here........................ ]
action;
H, h, h, h, h, haruka... you... there... on... your... [ she just points, her hand shaking, as she stammers out nonsensical words.
and that alone is already taking all of her composure. ]
action;
[ On her what? On her way? All the smiles, as Haruka just turns her head and looks behind her. ]
What is it, Makoto-chan? Did you see something?
[ Yes. That something being the Spinarak stretching its two front legs toward Makoto. "Kya! Makoto-sama! Embrace me! Let me fight for you! You make my heart go doki doki! Kya kya!"--is what it seems to be saying, gesturing rather cutely for a bug-type pokemon toward 765 PRO's handsome division leader. ]
I don't see anything but tall grass! Did you come from that way Makoto-chan?
action;
it's the only way she'll manage to save haruka at this rate... ]
Your back, Haruka! Your back!!!
[ and even then, haruka seems strangely obvious. then at this rate, there's only one thing she can do. she takes a deep breath, closing her eyes and counting to three...
before suddenly bursting forward, sprinting straight at haruka. note, her eyes are still closed as she runs. probably not the best of ideas, but it's to save a friend from being eaten by a spider!!! (she's pretty sure that's what will happen, anyway). once she pretty much runs straight into haruka, she flails wildly with her arms, managing to grab the spinarak before flinging it away.
mission successful!!!
too bad she's also completely lost her balance... if haruka can somehow keep her balance and support them both, perhaps they'll both be saved from a humiliating fall!!! (i'm only pretending this could actually happen). ]

And

Surprise! Haruka is bowled over by her fellow idol, falling to the ground and managing to drag Makoto down with her! She squirms on the ground, shocked and still unaware of Makorin's original intent. ]
Ma-Makoto-san! That's a strong hug! I'm not Yukiho-chan, you know?
action;
It's not a hug... you had a giant spider on your back!
[ at least she's calmed down enough to be able to compose sentences now. she struggles to get up and off of haruka, but she's still a bit frazzled by everything. ]
Eh? What does Yukiho have to do with it...?
[ you're so weird sometimes haruka geez. ]
action;
[ Haruka stands up moments later after Makoto, looking around with more confusion on her face rather than concern. Not seeing the offending critter, she just offers Makoto a smile again. ]
Yukiho's and your hugs always looked very tight, especially when you two would see a bug, like a cockroach.. I'm not as tough as her, Makoto-san!
[ Is she seriously calling Yukiho tough? ]
action;
[ how can haruka just take such alarming information so calmly!? ...as always, haruka's impressive... makoto just stares at her with a newfound sense of awe. ]
Oh... I guess that's true, huh? [ though makoto's pretty sure haruka is misunderstanding something pretty important there... ]
Yukiho can be pretty tough when it counts! [ okay so neither of them is very good at making accurate observations. ]

[ Another?... Haruka looks up at the trees, then offers Makoto a sympathetic look... Maybe that's why she's taking this so calmly??????? ]
... You haven't... seen Yukiho here... Have you?
[ Her smile wanes just a little. Aside from Yayoi, of whom which has been here for almost a year it sounds like, the other big crybaby of 765 PRO is Yukiho, and if she were here, then no doubt there would be a terrific amount of hysterics. ]

"another"? how many... has she had... to deal with... ]
No... I don't think Yukiho is here.
[ she seems a bit saddened at that realization, but there's still hope! after all, her friends have been popping up left and right. who knows who could show up in the future... maybe... ]
action;
[ Haruka sees the little pitfall she dragged Makoto and herself into, but with her overwhelming positivity she is going to push the two right back out! ]
Oh! What pokemon did you get? Something super cool, right?
action;
Eheh, I don't know if it's really cool, but... [ she takes out her pokeball and throws it, releasing the ralts inside.
who seems to be taking a nap. as usual. ] This guy.

But by disappointment, Haruka's eyes widen and
with grabby handsshe cups her lower mouth and stares at the snoozing Ralts. ]Makoto-chan... it...

[ she's definitely relieved that haruka agrees. makoto's feelings on her starter are a bit mixed given how eerily lazy it is, but... ]
What about you, Haruka? What did you get?

[ Haruka puts on her winningest smile. Just keep on smiling, Haruka! Who cares if your pokemon is very weird?
She takes the pokeball from her purse and drops it, and out comes Spinda!...
In a state of eternal shuffling back and forth...
A few steps here...
A few steps there...
It looks like it's going to fall!...
But it takes a few more steps there...
And here...
His eyes are all swirly and he's waving his arms, trying to keep balance. ]
Umm, Spinda! He... can't sit still very well, poor guy! But the pokedex says they do that!... I think...

[ very you. is what she wants to say, but she decides against it.
gotta be delicate here... ]
Why is so dizzy? Did you shake up his pokeball or something?

[ Haruka shakes her head gently. She'd never do that to her trusted partner!--even if it is a stuffed animal thing with spinny eyes and just watching him move for extended periods of time gets people nauseous...
Haruka points her pokedex at Spinda: ]
*PING!* SPINDA. SPOT PANDA POKEMON. NORMAL TYPE. NO TWO SPINDA HAVE THE SAME PATTERN OF SPOTS. ITS TOTTERING STEP FOULS THE AIM OF FOES.
[ Haruka much to Spinda's chagrin bends over and picks up her giant three foot panda pokemon. Weighing in at an impressive 11 lbs, she wraps her arms around its tummy and holds him to her body. Spinda stops his spinning, looking rather content being held like that. ]
... Oh! Did you want to hold him?
[ C'mon Makoto, it's a big freaking teddy bear. ]
action;
[ that explains it! no wonder. now it all makes sense.
(except it really doesn't, but makoto seems to think it does) ]
Sure! [ she holds her arms out to accept it, before looking a bit wary. ] I mean... do you think that's okay?
[ once her arms wrap around it she'll never let go, haruka.
are you alright with that... ]

[ She rubs Spinda's head between the ears. ]
Of course it's alright! You like really cute things, right?
[ She deposits the teddy-bear-esque pokemon into Makoto's arms, and boy, does Spinda really like being held like a doll!
...
No, really. Spinda stops its movements almost entirely, breathing slowly in Makoto's arms. ]

before starting to hold it a bit more tightly. ah, this is nice. she sort of nuzzles her face against it too. ]
Ah, he's really soft...
[ maybe a little too soft...
aren't her arms tightening a bit too much? no makoto unlike a teddie bear you can't just squeeze with all your might... ]

[ Funny, Spinda never had blue and purple blotches on his face before--
--oh. ]
Makoto-chan, you're choking him.
[ Spinda is now tapping out on Makoto's arm.... ]

[ no, that couldn't be right. she looks down at the spinda and... ]
Ah!
[ quickly releases him, nearly throwing him back at haruka. ]
