[ There is a white-frosted cake on the table. Haruka just finishes putting the last candle on it (seventeen of them, if one is counting) and looks pleased. ] I guess I really made it, after all. Mmm hmm, looks good.

[ Again, like last time, it appears she is unaware that she is being recorded. She beams a quiet happiness, which seems very muted compared to her normal bubbling enthusiasm and strong gusto. ] I wonder what she will think?

[ She chuckles to herself, taking a kitchen lighter and starts lighting the candles. ]

Happy Birthday, Chihaya-chan--ahh.

[ Haruka finally makes eye contact to the camera, stopping in her tracks. Instead, she smiles and shakes her head, reaching behind the gear. Haruka sets it upright on the table to face her, and pulls her arms back to her body now with a Spinda in tow. ]

Hi there. Umm... this cake is for a friend. It's her birthday today, and it's like all of a sudden, my body just went into auto-pilot. I woke up this morning and thought "It's her birthday today," and then I'm frosting a cake. [ She forces a laugh and looks embarrassed. ] I guess... it's really silly for me to do all of this, right? I mean, she's back home now, so she couldn't blow out the candles here even if she wanted.

[ She smiles, though it doesn't hide the sadness from her eyes. ]

Oh, Starter Appreciation Day was a few days ago. My starter is this guy here, and I pampered him up for the whole day. I gave him a bath, brushed his teeth, a haircut, brushed his fur, trimmed his claws... I know some pokemon probably would hate that, but he looked real happy. Look, I even wore this too. [ Haruka reaches behind her back and reveals a headband with bear ears on them. She puts them on, giggling as she coddles her Spinda. ] Aren't they super cute?

So, how did you spend your day appreciating your starter pokemon?

[ Spinda nudges Haruka, then points to the lit candles halfway through the wax already. ]

Oh, right. If you're in Goldenrod City and would like a slice of cake, please stop by the Breeding House.

[ Haruka is about to turn off the gear, but looks at the cake for a long moment. Spinda gently smacks Haruka's forehead and leaves his paw there. Haruka flinches and recoils, but understands the gesture. There there, he seemed to say. ]

Nnn. Thank you, Spinda.

Happy Birthday, Chihaya-chan. I hope everything's going okay.

[ She blows out the candles. ]

[ The first thing that should be of notice is that Haruka comments on how polite she's acting, but she's just a tad bit distracted by the cake on the table. Food often makes her fail spot checks, especially mental ones, so she'll keep her eye on the prize. ]

[ Maybe that piece is for herself, she thinks. Does that mean the rest of the cake is for Saber?

She can only hope.

I'm sure you're both excellent at it, if you both love it. I love singing all kind of songs too, and some of them remind me of some people who are important to me. Mostly because I wrote the songs for them.

[...So, no wonder they remind her about them, uh huh.

A laugh.] Ah, I'm not so good with cooking either, I love baking so much more. I should get better at both, especially at making dinner... Maybe we both can aim to the top with our skills.

[ Yayoi tightens her hug for a moment. ]

Eheheh~... it's okay. You won't ever be alone here! There'll always be someone here for you, Haruka-san. [ And that's the thought that's been keeping Yayoi's spirits up for all her time in this world. That, and one other thing: ]

And... I'm sure your feelings have reached Chihaya-san! Because of the time balls!

[ ... well, okay, so the explanation that was given to her regarding how time moves differently in this world and back home seems to have gotten increasingly confused over the months. ]

Right! I'm not really sure how those... time space bubble things work, but I'm sure Chihaya is enjoying her special day. Would you like a slice, Azusa-san? It's pretty good with red tea.

Oh, alright then.

[ She fetches a glass of water for herself. Then, with a big smile completely void of any maliciousness, she serves Saber the small slice. ]

Here you go!

[ Haruka then proceeds to slice off a normal-sized one. But before she takes a bite, she gives Saber an appraising stare. ]

Usually you dress so flashy, so... Umm, what are you wearing a costume for, Saber? I thought you would wear something more... eye-catching.

Ufufu... I'm not sure how they work either, but they work wonders~! And... *Sitting herself down nearby.* You know I could never turn down your sweets, Haruka-chan~

[ Haruka thinks she may have heard this term or something similar when she first got here, but she understands the intent of the message, and the real possibility that her celebration antics may have reached Chihaya. ]

Mmm, I hear you, Yayoi-chan.

[ She claps her hands onto Yayoi's and slips free, turning around to face the younger idol.

Of course, Yayoi isn't that young anymore. She's definitely a little bit taller and she looks a little bit more mature. How long has Yayoi been here before Haruka, anyway? Like a year or so? Something like that. She didn't really dig too much into it since apparently it has been a flux of her friends before, deciding to leave it to "live in the moment" and just that. ]

... Do you want some cake?

Ah... I think... I'll try it anyway.

[ Haruka looks mindful for a few moments, then smiles. ]

Embarrassing or not, I'll be sure to properly record my feelings for them. [ She's getting a little fired up now... ] Mmm. That's really not a bad idea at all.

Ah, yeah, I guess we're pretty good at it, actually. We're both idols, you know? [ Haruka smiles and tries to downplay it humbly a little. ] Singing and smiling are our two strongest weapons, after all. But I wish I could write better songs. Most of mine my production agency sets aside to look at for later, ehehe...

[ Maybe if she eats this, she can be served another slice. She'll bow her head as expected before lifting it back up with a frown. ]

I always dress in this manner. [ What is your problem GIRL. ]

That's the spirit. Good luck, Haruka. And have fun. It shows ... you know. In your recordings. Whether you are happy or sad, it shows ...

Just be honest. I'm sure that ... to the person who will watch it will be lifted that you have been trying your best. Isn't that what an idol is all about? Lifting the spirits of those who watch you?

So, you do everything else along with singing? I'm only a solo artist myself, since all I want to do is sing. I -- am not sure how I could help, but [and she'll be very humble about this] started writing songs when I was twelve and I've never had any trouble getting all of them through with my agency... Even though they'd filmed a few shows together here, Yayoi never really noticed the slight change in their height difference until now, and the pigtailed idol can't help but ponder that a little bit further. It's been about(?) two years since she arrived, and as far as she knows, Haruka arrived from... when everyone else arrived, really. Has that much time really passed? Has she really changed that much? ]

Speaking of birthdays, Yayoi-chan's coming up kind of soon, right?...

Ah, well I'm sure there are a lot of bakeries in Kanto that make cake... Regularly, in fact.

But how about I make you a special one, just for you? It'll be for when we meet again, and to make up not having some today.

Oh man, that's exactly what I want to convey as an idol. Maybe you should be the one up on stage.

[ Haruka makes a frame with her fingers and puts Lacus in the center of it. ]

You know, I bet if you made your debut, you'd be super popular! How well can you sing? Or dance?

[ Gosh, Yayoi's so cute. Haruka laughs and rubs her head between the pigtails. ]

Even if Chihaya were here, I doubt she could eat a whole cake by herself. She'd eat part of one slice and go [ Haruka does a Chihaya impression, sounding a little monotone with a twinge of despondence.. ] "Thank you, this was delicious, but I can't take in excess calories,"-- or something like that.

[ Haruka pulls out a chair at the table. ]

Have a seat, Yayoi-chan, I'll make some tea.

Oh, that's impressive! I would gladly accept some help! Plus I bet it's more fun when there's two people involved.

[ Haruka's reminded of talking leisurely with Chihaya and composing songs with her... There's a twinge of nostalgia but she shakes it away with another dose of positivity. ]

[ Oh... Saber always dresses in this manner...

Yeah except she really... doesn't...

Maybe Red Saber is getting into character? ]

Ah... Al... Alright then! You sure do, I guess. [ It's readily apparent that she's not satisfied with the answer, but she just goes along with it. She takes a bite and immediately is hit with a nice, light cake flavor that isn't too sweet or rich, despite appearances. She closes her eyes and tries to assess and savor her own cooking. ]

Mmm, some lemon zest, next time... Oh, Come to think of it, Saber weren't you interested in a segment in our show? I've talked to my manager, and I think it's okay if you wanted some air time.

[ After several moments she opens her eyes. ]

[ Shaking her head. She was already content with singing only once in a while for a cause. Right now, she just wants to be with the most important person to her. ]

I was an idol a few years ago. [ And very popular but she felt it wasn't necessary to mention that.

She also worked briefly as a singer and model in Goldenrod for a while. But quit again after Kira arrived. ]

So I do understand what you and your fellow idol friends are going through to reach your dreams.

[She'll clap her hands together in excitement.]

I hope I'll be able to help you somehow. At least I can try and we'll see how it goes.

[Song writing brings some nostalgic / sad memories to her too, but it's been years since she went through that stuff. So it's okay.]

[ She gives another appraising look, but drops it with a sheepish smile. ]

Mmm, definitely. If I can make another Haruka Amami have courage to be ambitious and dream big, then my job would already be a huge success.
