Aside from the pokedex, there's not much that's very helpful. A lot of breeders aren't very friendly with sharing their secrets unfortunately, especially if their eggs have special egg moves too.

I can say that you should find yourself a ditto to make things easier, because, well, umm... when a pokemon and a ditto love each other...
