Usually sweets are better for experimenting, they say. It's hard to go wrong with something sweet... unless you start mixing up something salty into them.

[Though sometimes it works, but that takes a professional.]

I guess pickled eggs would be good in a salad while tomato sauce works well with spaghetti... but I'm not sure how well those would work together.
